Don't Let Me Fall...B.O.B.

This song is cool. I heard it on the radio...probably Pandora. I'm sure you've heard this before, as it's pretty popular, but it's what I'm listenin to right now.

P.S., pretty bummed that the winter x games are already over. Such a sick weekend, but I'm not too sure about the results from SBD Superpipe. Shaun White won a 4th gold medal, but I personally don't know if he should have won. Guess that's what happens when you are the golden boy of your sport though.

Congrats to the dude tho; he was definitley shredding. Can't wait for the summer games...check out this triple cork from Torstein Horgmo who won the SBD Slopestyle gold.

Three Black Men

Three Black Men

At the National Art Gallery in Dublin, a husband and wife were staring at a portrait that had them completely confused.

The painting depicted three black men totally naked sitting on a park bench. Two of the figures had black willies, but the one in the middle had a pink willie.

The curator of the gallery realized that they were having trouble interpreting the painting and offered his assessment.

He went on for over half an hour explaining how it depicted the sexual emasculation of black men in a predominately white, patriarchal society. 'In fact,' he pointed out, 'some serious critics believe that the pink willie also reflects the cultural and sociological oppression experienced by gay men in contemporary society.'

After the curator left, an Irishman, approached the couple and said, 'Would you like to know what the painting is really about?'

'Now why would you claim to be more of an expert than the curator of the gallery?' asked the couple.

'Because I'm the guy who painted it,' he replied.

'In fact, there are no black men depicted at all! They're just three Irish coal miners. The guy in the middle went home for lunch.'

Letting Go...

I heard this song when I was on Pandora...such a sick track. Sean Kingston has made a few tracks that I really like. He's got a distinct sound to him. He reminds me of a British rapper (also known as an MC) because of his style...

Anyways, I decided to write about this song because I felt like the beat was catchy, as well as the hook. Kingston sort of reminds me of Flo-Rida also, but I think I prefer Kingston.

This song, to me, is great because it has a somewhat positive message..."Don't be afraid to let go...," which I take as don't be afraid to be youself. I love being myself, and I hope that through reading my blogs at least one person will be inspired to be themselves because that's really the only time you will be truly happy.
Anyways, enjoy this one...let me know what you think.

Why Soccer Isn't Popular In America...

As a true fan of the world's greatest game, and a graduated Division 1 athlete, I think it is time to speak the truth about why American soccer is not as popular as the other sports in this country.

Let's be honest, if you're reading this post then chances are you have played soccer, watched soccer, heard about soccer, or seen a soccer commercial. First of all I hate the word soccer because it makes me feel like we're not even talking about the same sport that I love.

Futbol is the greatest sport in the world, but the majority of people in this country don't appreciate it because they straight up don't understand it. We are a high paced society, and unfortunately we are also a simple society...just turn on the radio and listen to some of the garbage that gets played and it's not hard to believe.

Without dragging this out, I will say that I feel the reason this sport is not the most popular in this country because people don't really know how it should be played. Every time I watch it on ESPN the games are dull and lame. They only show two or three games a week, and if even one of those games is a dud then you can kiss that potential fan goodbye forever if they don't understand the game.

The problem really boils down to how futbol is marketed in this country. It's all about money in America, and instead of focusing on having fun playing the game and learning to play it properly, people are more concerned with having the coolest shoes, best ball, and all the other unimportant stuff.

It's simple to me why this happens...a lot of Futbol players in America are soft. They get coached at an early age by their parents who have no idea what they hell they're talking about, and it turns out looking like a bunch of little kids running around in short shorts with high socks trying to kick a ball up and down the field. Doesn't sound interesting to me either...and I love the sport.

I have the solution to this problem. The first is that they must start encouraging kids in urban communities to play futbol. In every other country futbol is a sport played by poor and rich. Most players that make it to the pros have come from nothing. They leave their families to work on their game and make a living to provide for their families.

In America, futbol is just about making money. There are so many fees and charges that the only people that can afford to play are the wealthy...it's sad.

Another problem with futbol in this country is the NCAA. They flat out are the worst thing that could happen to futbol in this country. Without being ridiculous, I feel perfectly okay calling the NCAA America's Hitler. They basically put rules in place that make no sense, and disrupt the growth of the sport completely. Worst of all, they disrupt the growth for the people who are breaking into the professional ranks, which makes the pro's worse...

Have you ever wondered why the MLS is not that great of a league, yet the NBA is the best league in the world? It's because urban communities have basketball courts and people who are less fortunate don't have to pay $1000 to play for one season. If we really want to see futbol grow in this country, we need to remove the NCAA from futbol...or atleast they need to change some if not most of their rules.

I am pretty passionate about this subject, so I wouldn't be suprised if I ended up writing another article about this...

Please, share your opinion on the matter...

Please, someone get a free quote from my sponsor (Quote Mart) before I lose my sponsorship...you can find their link at the top of my blog.

What's Up With Our World??

Have you ever wondered what happened to make people hate everyone else? What I mean is, have you ever walked past someone without giving them a glance?

When you're at the store do you walk around without making eye contact with anyone?

No matter how you answer those two questions, it's not hard to people watch and see this exact behavior going on any where you look. It's crazy to say, but people really don't like to communicate with strangers at all. I'm only asking because I was sitting in Meijer's parking lot listening to this song, and all I thought to myself was people are pretty cold to one another when there is nothing at stake. What happened to caring about each other as brothers, sisters, and fellow human beings.

People really don't even give each other so much as a smile, and I think it is this type of behavior that perpetuates hatred and competition.

What's my point here? I'm just hoping someone will comment back and try to explain why this phenomenon happens even in our own communities. I just want to see people happy, andwalking around with our heads down and not looking each other in the eye is definitely not going to make you happy...unless you like being an asshole.

Maybe it's because if you say hi to one person, then you feel you have to say hi to everyone, so it's just easier to focus on what you went to the store first...if anyone is reading this, please let me know what you think.

Throwback...The Fugees

I heard this song when I was on Pandora..it's a badass track with a great hook. Lauren Hill is what made the Fugees that platinum selling group, and in this song it's clear why.

She's got a distinct sound to her voice, and as soon as I heard this song I couldn't get the "La, La, La" out of my head...

I don't want to bore you to death so I figure I will just let you listen for yourself...hope you enjoy this one.

My Weird Dream...

Enjoy the track while you read this...

I woke up this morning with a feeling of relief at the fact that I was in my own bed, but I was confused because of the dream that seconds ago seemed so real...

From what I remember, I was in England with some friends, and being American we wantd to go to the mall and see the sites as well as the English girls.

We take a bus to the mall from my Aunt's house, who actually lives in England which is why this dream most likely took place there, and arrive there during the day. No problems... Apparently we had been there for quite some time, because by the time it was time to go, it was already dark. I'm not sure how many minutes or hours had passed, but it seemed like it got dark really quick.

As it started getting later in the evening, I realized that I was seperated from my friends. I had to get back to my Aunts house though, so I jumped on the bus behind a really cute girl.

As the bus takes off, I'm thinking to myself...thank God I made it. It's about 11 pm according to the clock on the bus, and I realize that if I hadn't gotten on this bus then I would have been stuck at the mall all night.

About two minutes pass, and we are taking these weird turns down the backstreets of England, and for some reason (besides the fact that I don't live there) I don't recognize any of the buildings we are passing. I look up at the front of the bus, and to my dismay I realize I have gotten on the wrong bus. I pull the emergency stop line, and run up to the front of the bus. I don't remember what I said to the bus driver, but it involved me being on the wrong bus and needing to get off.

I also remember leaving something like a bad or some food on the bus, and I was contemplating going and grabbing it before I got off the bus, but I decided not to hold the bus and its passengers up any longer because they were getting irritated.

As I started walking alone in England, I seemed to be in some dark neighborhood that reminded me of a neighborhood in urban America. It was dark, the street lights were orange and there weren't that many they didn't really help anyways.

I got to the end of the first street I was on, and as soon as I turned right I saw a big dog coming my way. The dog at first looked like it had cloudy eyes. I tried to keep walking thinking the dog would leave me alone, but it came right up to me and tried to attack me. I remember punching the dog as hard as I could in the face, similar to the way your character can fight back against a dog in call of duty...I know, weird.

This little fight lasts about 30 seconds, and then all the sudden I see someone walking up from behind the dog. The dog leaves me alone, and I ask the guy, "Do you know where..." Asking him if he knows the route for me to get home.

I can't remember what he said, but somehow I ended up following the guy back to his house to get my barrings, and to smoke a little herb. I somehow managed to have a joint rolled up in my pocket.

As we were sitting at his place, all I kept thinking to myself was I hope this dude just hurries up and takes me home. I had no idea where I was, and it was really late. Turns out the guy is younger than me, and is just hanging out with a friend of his. The two seemed like shady characters though, so I remember having my guard up and ready for anything to happen. I don't remember why we were just sitting at the kids house smoking, but about 3 minutes after we had been at this dudes house his parents show up while we are smoking pot. Immediately I think to myself, "This is not a good first impression," so I stand up and walk to his parents to shake their hands.

I then ask his father if he knows where the place is that I am trying to go. He tells me I'm about 30 minutes away, and then tells me I can look in the yellow pages for the address so that his son wont get lost when he takes me home.

I remember going into the kitchen to get the yellow pages, and when I came back out the dude and his friend were gone...I checked his room, the room across from his, and another room which was down the hall to the right of his. I was confused and a little frustrated. Why was I in this place?

About two minutes pass, and the dudes parents have gone to bed now, so it's just me in this house in the middle of England. 30 more seconds pass, and then the dude shows up in the room across from his, as if he had climbed in through the window.

Keep in mind, the entire time I am dreaming I keep thinking to myself, it's late...I really can't fall alseep though....don't fall asleep.

I then remember slowly opening my eyes and realizing that I was right in my own bed in good ol USA. This was a weird experience...and I thought I should write about it so I can share it with others who also might have some weird dreams...

That's All She Wrote

I found another great track that inspired me to get to blogging.

This song is on T.I.'s latest album No Mercy, and the track is titled "That's All She Wrote," featuring Eminem.

I don't know about anyone else, but personally these two artists are some of the best in the rap game currently. It's songs like this that I think give hip-hop hope for the future.

I like it because it's a song that you can listen to no matter what the situation. The beat is easy on the ears, and the lyrics are uplifting. For those that don't really read into rap lyrics, this song offers a well needed break from the negative tone that seems to be prevelant in 75% of hip-hop today.

Without trying to drag this blog out, I'll just leave it up to you to decide for yourself if you enjoy the track. If you do, or if you don't I still would like to get your feedback...leave me some love.

Drake...A Legend In The Making

For all of you who keep up with popular music then this post is to give some attention to a already shining star in the music industry. All I'm saying is Drake is a talented musician. The first time I knew this dude had what the music industry needs was when I sat down to study for my Anatomy exam back in late 2008, early 2009.

His first major mixtape was So Far Gone, and as soon as I heard the song "Unstoppable," featuring Lil Wayne, I was a fan. The guy raps about things that I can relate to. Obviously being a rap super-star his life is much more luxurious, but he raps about things that people experience in everyday life. He doesn't try to be someone he isn't, and quite frankly just being himself has gotten him very far so I don't see why he would ever change his style.

I really like this song, so I figured I would post it because it is something that anyone can listen to at any time of day in any setting. I really like the girl singing in the background of the chorus, and I think she takes the song to a different level. Music is amazing, and if anyone out there can understand what I'm trying to say then I'll be happy. I hope you enjoy this song, and I hope you go out and try to find other songs like this one and make them popular so that we don't have to listen to the same songs on the radio day in and day out. Peace.

Winter X Games 15

Well, I don't know about you but I am a true fan of the winter x games. I'm pretty excited that they're right around the corner, and I figured this was as good a time as any to talk about what event I am most excited about.

Of course it goes without saying that the event I can't wait for is superpipe. This is gonna be absolutely crazy this year-- as if it isn't sick every year.

Headling this incredible event is none other than America's favorite red head...Shaun White. The snowboarding legend is a 10x Winter X-Games Gold Medalist, as well as a 2x Winter Olympic Gold Medalist. Without trying to sound too much like a Shaun White groupie, I will say that this dude has some serious skills.

He is one of the main reasons as to why I personally gained more interest in the sport, and he never really dissapoints at the X-Games. If you have nothing else to do from January 27-30 then I highly recommend tuning in to ESPN for Winter X-Games 15.

Thanks for reading friends...enjoy the video, and stay warm!

Young Jeezy---I Am Back

When I first heard this song I was like "Damn, this is about to blow up." Turns out this song has been out for years, and it never took off.

It's music like this that makes me absolutely hate the radio...they don't play the best music, and on top of that they play the music that turns people off hip-hop completely.

This song is classic Jeezy, and it goes to show why he has so much credibility in the streets. The beat of this song is unique because of Jeezy's style of MCing. The only other person I could possibly see making a track like is is Tupac, and he's no longer with us.

Jeezy is one of the best real rappers out right now, and the fact that he hasn't gotten the success that he deserves shows me that people are okay with poor quality these days. I'm not saying everything that makes the radio is trash, but if they played songs like this on the radio I would think about putting more money into the economy for gas so I had an excuse to listen to it.  Enjoy...

Ray Lamontagne...A Rising Star

I first heard Ray Lamontagne when I was watching The Town, starring and directed by Ben Affleck. Just as I was turning my Xbox 360 off because the credits had started rolling I caught myself listening to the song that was playing.

Ray has a distinct sound to him, and it immediately made me search for him on Pandora. This guy is gifted with a guitar in his hands, and his voice is going to take him places. I don't think I will do him justice by trying to describe his style, so instead I'd rather just give you a chance to listen for yourself.

Here's the song I started out with...hopefully you appreciate it.

Please don't forget to check out my website Quote Mart. The links are at the top and bottom of my blog.

All I am asking someone to do is get a free auto quote just so I know whether or not the site is functioning properly. Your help is needed and appreciated if you have two minutes to spare.

I'm Not A Star...Up Next...Rick Ross

Alright, I also heard this song during a party on New Year's Eve. This is off of Rick Ross' latest album Teflon Don, which dropped in 2010.

Before I get into the song, I'd just like to say that Rick Ross is someone who's brand has slowly been getting stronger since he dropped Port of Miami. Ross is now signed with Bad Boy Records, and is gaining a lot of momentum...it's unclear whether or not he will last, but I think if he is able to grow artistically then he could become a rap icon.

He's already got a solid fan base, and being associated with Diddy is definitely not going to hurt his chances of becoming a rap legend. Listen to this track and let me know what you think about it folks. Enjoy...

This song makes your speakers pound...I think that was a major reason why this song stood out to me.

Wacka Flacka Flame...Go Hard In The Paint!!

The next song I would like to discuss is Wacka Flacka Flame's Go Hard In The Paint from his latest album Flockaveli.

I can't really understand why this song gets so much radio play, besides the fact that the beat sounds good to some people, including myself.

I am not hating on Wacka, but I am hating on the people that call into the radio stations requesting songs like this.

I truly believe that this song is a prime example of why a lot of people (white & black & everything in between) choose to not listen to rap. This song is super violent, and it has no positive message to send to its listeners."When my little brother died I said f*** school..." I can't believe radio stations are okay with these type of lyrics being played on their stations, as I'm sure it causes a lot of people to turn to a different station.

I am a huge fan of hip hop, but I feel that if people continue to promote songs like this then hip hop will eventually die because there is no thought involved. I like hearing songs that have meaningful lyrics, or at least lyrics that are more complex than "I go hard in the paint," and "I picked the burna up & some marijuana."

Please people, let me know what you think...Peace & Happy New Year!!

Don't forget to check out my website Quote Mart....I still need to make sure everything on the site is working properly, so if you can help that'd be really really cool. The link's are at the top and bottom of my blog.

Kid Cudi...The Man on The Moon

I swear, if Kid Cudi keeps dropping tracks like he has been then I can see him being around for a long time. The dude is talented, and unlike a lot of the hip hop music that gets radio play these days, Cudi has a completely different sound to him.

To me, Cudi sounds like a Kanye West with a little bit more Rock influence. The song that I was listening to when I decided to write this blog was Pursuit of Happiness. This song was on Kid's album Man on the Moon: The End of Day.

If you agree that hip-hop needs to sound more like this then please share your insight. I want to hear from other people about which direction they would like to see hip-hop move in, and whether or not Kid Cudi is in fact a rising star. I look forward to hearing from people.

Nice Car & Nice Song

Today, as I was driving home, I saw the sickest car I've seen in a long time. It was an old school dodge challenger. It was black, with the windows tinted, and a license plate that read "HiRoler."

As I drove by, I found myself admiring the beautiful display of American Muscle, and all I could do was honk my horn as a sign of respect.

I know these blogs are supposed to be about music, but sometimes I will drift and talk about other things.

Anyways, while I'm here I can promote my next song, which is definitely Lil Waynes new song With You.

I heard this song at a party on New Years Eve, and I loved it. The beat isn't too loud, and the lyrics are also not violent. This song is about being with your girl. Who can't appreciate this song if you've ever had that one girl that you would do anything for.

Hip Hop is losing a lot of its creativity these days, but artists like Lil Wayne and Drake are keeping people interested with songs like this. If anyone has any comments about this song whether positive or negative, I would like to see them voiced. I want people to let me know why they also like this song, or why they don't like it.

Maybe we can figure out what makes hip-hop so popular. Later I will definitely be reveiwing the likes of Gucci Mane and Wacka Flacka Flame just to name a few controversial artists that are getting a lot of attention these days.

Happy New Year!!

First blog ever. Well, it's good to be here, I will say that. I think it's appropriate that the first blog I write comes on the last day of the year.

2010 has been an interesting year, to say the least, and musically we were all blessed with the talent of artists like J. Cole, Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, Rick Ross, etc...

What I plan to do here with my blogs is review popular music and try to find out what makes the song good and try to promote it a little bit.

The first saw I'll discuss in this blog is Say Yeah, by Wiz Khalifa.

I first heard this song on Pandora, and I really liked the beat because it was originally a techno beat, and Wiz Khalifa shows his artistic style by rapping to it.

Nowadays people are starting to hate hip-hop because all people talk about is violence.

This song, although its lyrics talk about a woman dancing on a pole, has a much less negative vibe to it. This is a song that I would listen to anywhere and think that this was a great song for helping get the mood right.

Wiz Khalifa is sick, and this song is pretty good. Let me know what you think if you have any issues with it. I will try and keep these blogs short and to the point. I will find a song I like, and put it on here and hopefully we can have some intelligent and coherent responses to the songs.
Happy New Year everyone...

Peace!
