Wacka Flacka Flame...Go Hard In The Paint!!

The next song I would like to discuss is Wacka Flacka Flame's Go Hard In The Paint from his latest album Flockaveli.

I can't really understand why this song gets so much radio play, besides the fact that the beat sounds good to some people, including myself.

I am not hating on Wacka, but I am hating on the people that call into the radio stations requesting songs like this.

I truly believe that this song is a prime example of why a lot of people (white & black & everything in between) choose to not listen to rap. This song is super violent, and it has no positive message to send to its listeners."When my little brother died I said f*** school..." I can't believe radio stations are okay with these type of lyrics being played on their stations, as I'm sure it causes a lot of people to turn to a different station.

I am a huge fan of hip hop, but I feel that if people continue to promote songs like this then hip hop will eventually die because there is no thought involved. I like hearing songs that have meaningful lyrics, or at least lyrics that are more complex than "I go hard in the paint," and "I picked the burna up & some marijuana."

Kid Cudi...The Man on The Moon

I swear, if Kid Cudi keeps dropping tracks like he has been then I can see him being around for a long time. The dude is talented, and unlike a lot of the hip hop music that gets radio play these days, Cudi has a completely different sound to him.

To me, Cudi sounds like a Kanye West with a little bit more Rock influence. The song that I was listening to when I decided to write this blog was Pursuit of Happiness. This song was on Kid's album Man on the Moon: The End of Day.

If you agree that hip-hop needs to sound more like this then please share your insight. I want to hear from other people about which direction they would like to see hip-hop move in, and whether or not Kid Cudi is in fact a rising star. I look forward to hearing from people.

First blog ever. Well, it's good to be here, I will say that. I think it's appropriate that the first blog I write comes on the last day of the year.

2010 has been an interesting year, to say the least, and musically we were all blessed with the talent of artists like J. Cole, Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, Rick Ross, etc...

What I plan to do here with my blogs is review popular music and try to find out what makes the song good and try to promote it a little bit.

The first saw I'll discuss in this blog is Say Yeah, by Wiz Khalifa.

I first heard this song on Pandora, and I really liked the beat because it was originally a techno beat, and Wiz Khalifa shows his artistic style by rapping to it.

Nowadays people are starting to hate hip-hop because all people talk about is violence.

This song, although its lyrics talk about a woman dancing on a pole, has a much less negative vibe to it. This is a song that I would listen to anywhere and think that this was a great song for helping get the mood right.

Wiz Khalifa is sick, and this song is pretty good. Let me know what you think if you have any issues with it. I will try and keep these blogs short and to the point. I will find a song I like, and put it on here and hopefully we can have some intelligent and coherent responses to the songs.
